Baca County Community Foundation

The Baca County Economic Development Commission and Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Educational and Charitable Foundation are pleased to announce the formation of the Baca County Community Foundation, a foundation established to help the communities in Baca County grow and remain vital now and for generations to come. The Community Foundation is a partnership between Baca County and the Hometown Community Foundation, which was started in 2006 by the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Educational and Charitable Foundation to help rural communities retain assets and wealth for the purpose of bettering the community, without the burden of administering a community foundation. The Hometown Community Foundation has affiliated with the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County in the short term, in order to leverage funds raised by rural communities and take advantage of the CFSGWC's ten plus years of growth and expertise in fund and investment management.

The Baca County Community Foundation will serve the members of all Baca County communities. The foundation acts like an endowment in that none of the principal money that goes into the foundation will ever be touched. Only a portion of the interest earned every year will be spent on activities to help promote the vitality of our communities through economic development.

"We are very excited to bring the Baca County Community Foundation on board as our very first affiliate," says Kent Peppler, President of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and the Hometown Community Foundation. "This demonstrates the tremendous leadership and progressive thinking of this county, which will be essential for not only your Community Foundation, but for the future of your communities."

The Baca County Economic Development Commission is having a kick-off Pancake breakfast the morning of the Spring Equinox Festival to begin informing the residents of Baca County about the Baca County Community Foundation. The pancake breakfast will be prepared by the Pritchett FFA students and will be held in room 3 of the Springfield High School from 7:30a.m. to 9:00a.m. Susann Mikkelson of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will be there to give a short presentation about the Baca County Community Foundation. Get an early start to a busy day at the Equinox festival by supporting local FFA students, learning about a community foundation established to ensure the vitality of your community, and cheering on the students that are entered in the Baca County Youth Entrepreneurship Fair as the award are given out from 8:30-9:00a.m., in room 3 of the Springfield High School on March 24.
