Why Train to be a Leader?

In years past, leadership was something more or less inherited. Nowadays, community leaders must be recruited from all walks of life. Leaders need training to become knowledgeable partners capable of creating a team effort ... as well as visionary thinkers and strategic doers, with an ability to manage conflict and cope with change.

Elevate your Leadership!

Here's how L.I.F.T. can help:
  • 9 evening sessions from 7-9pm to build knowledge, skills, attitudes (5 sessions in early fall 2006, 4 sessions in winter 2007)
  • Homework after each session that supports learning and practice
  • Assessment Visits to businesses and resource providers that allow each participant to learn more about the county and region
  • Networking with leaders in nearby communities
  • Second Year L.I.F.T. training offers Leadership Placement and Mentoring
  • Third Year L.I.F.T. training offers an opportunity to organize a community service event

Who Could Use a L.I.F.T.?

Leadership is the key to accomplishing positive things for our communities, schools, churches, and businesses. Clearly, most citizens consider themselves to be followers, but everyone practices leadership on some level: at home, in the workplace, or in society.

Leadership on the community level is in short supply. Various people bring great talents to their positions, but the sobering fact is that there really are no born leaders. The good news is that leadership consists of knowledge, skills, and attitudes ... and these are things that can be learned through training and practice. Even after years of leadership in the community, L.I.F.T sessions can help you learn new skills and techniques... whether you are a county commissioner, the director of an organization, a committee member, or a citizen in great interest in your town.
