Shooters N Runners Paintball Course
Retail Business
I've always wanted a store in my town that sold nice clothing and a great variety of music because I did not want to drive to another town so I could purchase them. Then having to pay more for gas and food, I would not be able to get as much as I wanted to buy. So, with a chance to start my own business, I could run the store I never had to shop from.
There is a great opportunity for me and my retail business to become successful in selling the clothing and music that I will be having in my store. Due to the fact that I will be selling name brand clothing and music that other stores do not offer. With the demand for the merchandise I will be supplying, which is focused to the youth, will narrow down my competition to a minimum. My store will be popular, which will lead to my sales being high on a monthly basis, even higher on holidays. With that I believe I will be making a profit in about two to three months.
I think opening up a paintball course would be a great opportunity and a good thing for the community and for kids. There is not much to do in town or without having to drive far away. Charging a fee with or without gear, selling drinks and snacks I hope for this to become a profitable and attractive business, not only for Dimmitt residents, but also for surrounding smaller towns. Marketing and advertising this business will help promote the grand opening and give curiosity for those who would like to see what this business is like. I expect a profitable first year with low maintenance costs and high demand of service.
I. Opportunity:
I would like to open up a small business in which I will sell name brand clothing, (Ecko, Dickies, Polo, etc.) and also a wide variety of music, (Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, Country, Religious, etc.). I believe my business will be successful because there are not many stores around this area that offer a mix of brand name clothing that appeals to today's youth and the music selection that our youth prefer to hear without having to drive to the nearest mall which is in Lubbock or Amarillo, especially with gas prices being so high.
Although, my store is mainly focused towards the youth, adults can also benefit from purchasing from my store. I believe people will buy from my store mainly because it is local and I will be selling products that both the youth and adults have a stronger desire for. Sales would even be higher during the holiday season, especially last minute shoppers wanting better items.
There are other stores in this area that do sell clothes and music, but variety is lacking. In a small rural community clothes are mainly generic rather than brand name clothing. In which would attract the customer to better quality items and would shop at my store.
In the music department, the stores here only offer a very small variety of music and artists and at that they are the edited versions, at my store I will have more of a selection to choose from and I will have the explicit versions and some edited, but in order to purchase explicit music items the customer would have to be eighteen years or older and have a valid identification card. Therefore, I will not have to worry about competition.
II. Marketing:
Yes, I believe there is a demand, maybe not a direct demand, but it's there for my business. If consumers know that there is a store that sells nice clothing and music, where usually they would have to go somewhere else and purchase it, they will shop near their home. This would turn my store into a demanding retail store with "In demand" merchandise.
My main target would be the youth in my area, but as I stated before, adults could use the store to their benefit. The advantages I have over other competition are that my store will have the newest and most recent brand clothing and older clothing that is still popular. My store will also carry a large inventory of music from, greatest hits albums, new artists, popular artists, basically what's hot, not just for the youth but also for the older generation.
The disadvantages I will have over competition will be some customers might not be able to afford the specific item they are wanting and therefore will shop at a generic brand store. To benefit me such case, I will carry a limited amount of generic clothing, and for those who cannot afford what they want I will try to set up some type of law-a-way plan.
III. Products & Services:
I will be selling name brand and generic clothing and music records (CD's, Cassettes, and DVD's).
I will sell it by renting or buying a small building big enough to hold my items for sell.
I plan to advertise by making a grand opening flyer and send it out to random addresses and posting the ads at local convenience stores, business and public buildings. After that I will issue a flyer to random addresses every two weeks or so, advertising what new in stock and special or sale items.
I plan to hire a business partner to help run the store and to help financially.
IV. Financial Projections:
I expect my sales to be high when my store first opens because it would be the new thing in town and I will have all the good stuff. After a while my sales may go down to an average daily or weekly shopping store, but still popular.
My main expenses will be to keep up with the bills and if my building is rented, paying the rent, and getting the clothes and merchandise from the companies that I will be selling from.
I think I will be making a small profit in the first month. After the first month sales I will be able to identify the needs and wants of my consumers and hope to increase my profits by fifteen percent within the third to fourth months.
