Shooters N Runners Paintball Course

The first idea was to open up a recreation center for an abandoned building in Dimmitt, but after doing some researching and talking to some local people, most of the assets had been torn out or removed. Some interesting ideas such as a camp site or paintball course was suggested by a local business owner. That was all I needed to begin this plan, along with some ideas from friends and teachers.

I think opening up a paintball course would be a great opportunity and a good thing for the community and for kids. There is not much to do in town or without having to drive far away. Charging a fee with or without gear, selling drinks and snacks I hope for this to become a profitable and attractive business, not only for Dimmitt residents, but also for surrounding smaller towns. Marketing and advertising this business will help promote the grand opening and give curiosity for those who would like to see what this business is like. I expect a profitable first year with low maintenance costs and high demand of service.

I. Opportunity

  • I would like to open up a paintball course because it will allow young adults and teenagers to do something on the weekends, and have fun with their friends! It's something fun for everyone.

  • People would definitely enjoy this type of business because we will have an indoor and outdoor area, rentals available for those who do not have the equipment and it is great exercise!

  • There are no current businesses like this that are available in this area, you would have to travel over 60 miles to get to another paintball course.

  • My course will be open on Friday's from 6-10, Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday from 1-6 pm.

II. Marketing

  • Dimmitt does have a demand for our project because of its small size there is not much to do without traveling. This paintball course will also keep kids out of trouble.

  • I will be running a service/retail business. The service part is offering the land and equipment to "play" and retail is selling paintballs to customers, drinks and snacks.

  • Our main targets are the youth and young adults, must be of at least ten years of age and up. The advantages are that we will have neighboring towns will come to use this site instead having to travel a long distance. I do not see any disadvantages-as of yet.
III. Products and Services

  • The things we will be selling are paintballs-- the prices will vary on how much you want to buy, drinks and snacks in vending machines for convenience. I will rent out gear and guns to those who need it.

  • I intend on advertising my business on the local television channel, announcing it on the radio, put out flyers at businesses, churches and schools, as well as having business cards.

  • I am working with teachers, and peers to help develop my paintball concept.
IV. Financial Projections

  • I think the sales will be low at first but after about a month or two they will increase because there's not that much to do in this town and people will want to see what I offer. Entrance fees will be $5 per person if they have their own gear and $9 per person for those who need the gun and head gear.

  • The main monthly expenses will be to rent the building and land (hope to purchase in the near future), electricity and gas, snacks and beverages, and paintballs. Estimated expenses: $750

  • Start up estimated costs would be $1200 for 10 paintball guns, headgear, and goggles.

  • I estimate a profit in 2-4 months from the paintball fees, rentals of equipment, paintballs, and snacks and drinks. I hope to cover my start up costs within the first two months of 'Shooters-n-Runners' grand opening. After the first two months, and once my monthly expenses are covered I hope to have a profit of at least $500 a month for the first year.
